DescriptionA charming rustic old stone cottage
This rustic old stone cottage is situated in the heart of historical Stari Grad which is the oldest town on the island of Hvar. The house is set in a tranquil oasis of silence, yet only minutes walk to the shops and restaurants that make Stari Grad a destination of choice. The house is beautifully presented with a charm and rustic feel that exports you back to a bygone age. The entrance to the house is from the street, which leads into an open plan living/dining room where there are some wonderful exposed stone walls dating back at least 400 years! To the back of the house is a small basic kitchen which has a door leading to the garden.
The first floor can either be approached via an internal stair case from the living room, alternatively, from the courtyard outside vis stone steps. There are two gorgeously presented bedrooms whilst a third small bedroom is approached via one of the bedrooms. This third bedroom is plumbed and could make a lovely ensuite bathroom to the bedroom. The current bathroom is on the ground floor.
Outside there is a very private little courtyard which is approached directly from the kitchen and is just made for alfresco eating and drinks. From this romantic little courtyard are steps leading to a longish and narrow garden opening up at the end to a wider area ideal for a table and chairs. The garden is south facing and gets drenched with the sun but also has plenty of shade should the sun get too much! This rustic old stone cottage is one of the nicest properties we have had on the market for some time!
Stari Grad has a wonderful labyrinth of stone cobbled streets which no matter how many times you have walked, it seems a new street appears to explore! The choice of family owned restaurants is in abundance and it won’t be long before you find your favourite whether it be for the charming hospitality these restaurants are renowned for or the freshness of the food.
Stari Grad ferry port is close by which has a comprehensive daily ferry service directly to Split and run by Jadrolinija, whilst several kilometres away in Jelsa, there is also a daily catamaran via Bol on the island of Brac to Split. In addition to catamaran service there is the new and exciting European Coastal Airlines offers rapid connection to Split airport in 13 minutes.
